Jesus attended a wedding at Cana with his mother and the disciples. When the host of the wedding was embarrassed to find that they had run out of wine, Jesus’s mother told him about the problem. He initially told him that his time had not come but quietly acted anyway. He told the servants to fill large stone jars with water, then to draw some out and take it to the host. The water had miraculously become wine of the best quality. This was the first miracle of Jesus that revealed his power and his compassion towards ordinary people.
