With beautiful illustrations by Kees de Kort, this book uses a translation in Pitjantjatjara tells the story of an elderly childless couple, Zechariah and Elizabeth. Zechariah was an elderly priest serving in the temple. One night, the angel Gabriel appear and told Zechariah that he and Elizabeth would have a son who would prepare the way of the Lord.
Zechariah doubted this message, but then found that Elizabeth, despite her old age, conceived a child, just as the angel had said. God made sure that Zechariah was unable to speak until the child was born. His speech was restored when he followed God’s command and named the child John. God had remained faithful to his promise and John did go on to prepare the way of the Lord.
