(CBS) Tjakiyatjangya (Zacchaeus) Pitjantjatjara
With beautiful illustrations by Kees de Kort, this book uses a translation in Pitjantjatjara to tell the story of Jesus travelling through Jericho. A wealthy tax collector named Zacchaeus was keen to meet Jesus. He tried to find Jesus among the crowds but was too short to see him. So, Zacchaeus climbed a sycamore tree to get a better view. Jesus stopped, called to him by name, saying he would come to stay at his house. The crowd was not happy, because they disapproved of someone like Zacchaeus, who they considered a sinner.
Moved by his encounter with Jesus, Zacchaeus promised to give half his possessions to the poor and repay anyone he had cheated. Jesus announced that salvation had to come to the house of Zacchaeus, saying that he had come to seek out and save those who were lost.
